His grassroots campaign centers on the slogan “People Over Profits,” emphasizing reforming money in politics, expanding healthcare access, and advocating for working families rather than corporate interests. Franklin rejects corporate PAC money, draws inspiration from movements like Bernie Sanders’s campaigns and the Money Out of Politics movement, and focuses on issues such as economic justice, healthcare reform, and democratic accountability as part of his bid to represent IN-5 in Congress.

Brendan Gill is an Essex County Commissioner and Democratic candidate running in the special election for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District to fill the seat vacated by Gov. Mikie Sherrill. He has a long background in Democratic politics, including serving as a senior advisor to prominent New Jersey Democrats and managing Gov. Phil Murphy’s 2017 campaign, and has won key local endorsements including from the Essex County Democratic Committee and former Congressman Steve Rothman. Gill emphasizes relationship-building, progressive priorities like strengthening the middle class and protecting democratic institutions, and deep community ties as he campaigns across the district. His fundraising has been competitive with other leading contenders in the crowded Democratic primary ahead of the Feb. 5 vote.
